TRC20 and ERC20 tokens operate on completely separate blockchains and cannot be sent directly between them. To convert USDT TRC20 to USDT ERC20 (or vice versa), you need to use either a centralized exchange or a cross-chain bridge.

Method 1: Using a Centralized Exchange (Easiest)

Step 1: Log in to your exchange account (Binance, OKX, or similar).

Step 2: Navigate to Wallet, Deposit, USDT and select TRC20 as the network. Copy the deposit address.

Step 3: Send your USDT TRC20 from your TRC20 wallet to the exchange deposit address.

Step 4: Once credited, go to Withdraw, USDT and select ERC20 (Ethereum) as the network.

Step 5: Enter your ERC20 wallet address (starting with 0x) and confirm the withdrawal.

Always ensure the sender and receiver use the same network. Sending tokens to the wrong network address can result in permanent loss of funds.

Method 2: Cross-Chain Bridges (Decentralized)

For a non-custodial conversion, cross-chain bridges like Allbridge Core or Portal Bridge allow direct swaps between TRC20 and ERC20 without depositing funds on a centralized exchange. Connect your TRC20 wallet (TronLink) and your ERC20 wallet (MetaMask), select the source and destination networks, and approve the bridge transaction.

Important Warnings

Never send TRC20 USDT directly to an ERC20 wallet address, or ERC20 USDT to a TRC20 address. These are different blockchains — the transaction will complete on the sending chain but will not arrive in a recoverable format on the destination. When using cross-chain bridges, always verify you are using the official bridge URL to avoid phishing sites.
